Vertical Rescue
VERTICAL RESCUE OPERATOR PROGRAM
DESCRIPTION
Vertical rescue requires operators to correctly identify and use suitable access and recovery equipment combined with protocols to provide emergency response options in the case of an accident at heights or depths. Participants will be required to operate independently and as part of a team to complete the successful recovery of casualties from heights or depths.
APPLICATION
The aim of this program is to qualify participants to undertake vertical rescue operations as a member of a rescue team.

UNITS OF COMPETENCY
The program is aligned to meet the following unit of competencies:
- PUASAR032 Undertake vertical rescue
- PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation
PRE-REQUISITES
The formal prerequisite
PUASAR022 is trained and assessed within the program, prior to the required UoC.
PUASAR022 has a prerequisite of HLTAID003 which is required prior to the commencement of the program.

ASSESSMENT
Assessment is conducted by RR+R using evidence of skills and knowledge obtained throughout the program.
Participants must be able to:
- Identify hazards and risks
- Implement height safety procedures
- Detail safe work requirements
- Demonstrate the different techniques and manage & escort casualties under adverse conditions
CERTIFICATION
A Statement of Attainment listing individual units of competency will be issued to participants upon successful completion.
