PUA20719 Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations)

Course Description

This highly practical and interactive program provides the knowledge and skills required by responders to perform a range of varied activities such as respond to wildfire, participate in prescribed burning and community safety. Ideal for persons operating as part of a firefighting team, responding to disasters and/or incidents that endanger life, property and the environment.

The skills and knowledge developed on this program can be applied in a wide range of industries, such as emergency services, mining, construction, manufacturing and the rural sector. Highly suitable for Government & non Government Emergency Response personnel.

Mode of Delivery

This course will be delivered via face to face or can be delivered as a blend of self-paced online and face-to-face facilitation.

Duration*

This course is scheduled for:

Distance learning and assessment and 5 extended days of face-to-face practical demonstrations

Student's should allow approximately 6 months to complete this course.

Pre-Requisite and Entry Requirements

Students holding a previous certification for the unit of competency and are seeking recognition must supply their credential at the time of enrolment.

Students must have language, literacy and numeracy skills (LLN) to interpret and apply relevant information to commence learning in this program. An LLN assessment may be conducted upon receipt of enrolment application to ensure each student has the appropriate level of skills required to undertake this course.

^PUAFIR210 Prevent injury is a formal pre-requisite for PUAEQU001, PUAFIR204 and PUAFIR201 and is covered within this program.

Certification

Students who successfully complete this course and demonstrate competence will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment under the Australian Qualifications Framework. The certification will be issued by Risk Response and Rescue (RTO 90774).

To ensure the safety of our staff and clients, participants will be required to have their temperature tested and sanitise upon entry to our premises. Whilst check-in using our QR code is no longer mandatory, we strongly encourage participants to continue to utilise this function. 
In line with the Public Health Order, face masks are no longer mandatory on our premises however are highly recommended in certain situations. Whilst on our premises you may be asked to wear a face mask if you are not able to be physically distanced (e.g. when in a Confined Space or performing 2 person CPR).
