Course Description
This highly practical and interactive program is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills to allow them to operate safely within emergency services, across a variety of industries. This qualification is to provide training for those who will fulfil the role of response and rescue team members.

Mode of Delivery
This course will be delivered as a blend of distance and face-to-face learning and assessment.

Duration*
This course is scheduled for:
Distance learning and assessment and up to 28 days of face-to-face practical demonstrations
Student's should allow approximately 6-12 months to complete this course.
Pre-Requisite and Entry Requirements
Students must be at least 18 years of age at the time of enrolment to undertake this course and have previously completed the Enter and Work in Confined Spaces Course.
^Students must hold certification for the following units of competency for enrolment into this course and must supply their credential at the time of enrolment:
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
Students holding a previous certification for the unit of competency and are seeking recognition must supply their credential at the time of enrolment.
Students must have language, literacy and numeracy skills (LLN) to interpret and apply relevant information to commence learning in this program. An LLN assessment may be conducted upon receipt of enrolment application to ensure each student has the appropriate level of skills required to undertake this course.
^PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation is a formal pre-requisite for PUASAR024 and is covered within this program.
PUAFIR210 Prevent injury is a formal pre-requisite for PUAFIR207 and PUAEQU001 and is covered within this program.
PUAFIR207 Operate breathing apparatus open circuit is a formal pre-requisite for PUAFIR306 and PUAFIR324 and is covered within this program.
Note: Individuals within the fire sector must hold HLTAID011 Provide First Aid for entry into this course. If you do not hold HLTAID011 please Contact Us before enrolling.
Certification
Students who successfully complete this course and demonstrate competence will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment under the Australian Qualifications Framework. The certification will be issued by Risk Response and Rescue (RTO 90774).

All course materials, handouts and personal protective equipment will be provided.
Student Requirements
Due to the nature of this course, students must be willing and capable of moving about in dark, possibly smoky, confined spaces while wearing 15kg breathing apparatus sets, AND willing and capable of moving about at height (ascending and descending ropes) on towers and other high structures.
If you do not possess the fitness/strength to ascend ropes under your own strength, you will be unable to demonstrate competence for the vertical rescue component of this program.
Student must be clean shaven to effectively wear breathing apparatus and be current in operate breathing apparatus open circuit operations.
Students must be physically capable of performing at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
Students must wear appropriate clothing and footwear when attending face-to-face sessions.
