Occupational First Aid
OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID
This program provides the knowledge and skills to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in a workplace environment, including the skills to provide an emergency first aid response in the event of an emergency.
This includes life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and provision of support to others. It also addresses the establishment and maintenance of facilities to enable or facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in the workplace.
Blended Delivery - Online and face-to-face including:
- 3 days face to face (24 hours of supervised instruction) and
- 6 hours of unsupervised instruction/activities (homework / preparation / online)

- HLTAID011 Provide first aid
- HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid
- HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
- HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources
Persons are required to be physically capable of performing at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor to be assessed in this unit of competency.
Although this program is highly practical, All participants should have reasonable language and literacy skills (able to read, understand and complete basic forms, etc.).

Participants are provided the opportunity to identify any learner support required at enrolment and throughout the program. RR+R will make reasonable adjustments where possible and tailor any assessments in response to any special language, literacy or numeracy needs.
- HLTAID011 Provide first aid is a pre-requisite for HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy. The unit will be completed within this course however held prior to commencement of HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy.
Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally accredited. The Statement is issued by RISK RESPONSE AND RESCUE (RTO 90774)
First aiders should attend training on a regular basis to refresh their first aid knowledge and skills. Refresher training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) should be carried out annually and first aid qualifications should be renewed every three years.
These units may provide credit towards a range of qualifications at Certificate II, Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma levels
