About the Role
We are seeking a competent and enthusiastic Emergency Services Officer for a casual position at an open cut mine in the Hunter Valley, NSW. The opportunity for full-time employment exists for the right candidate. This is a position for those local to the Hunter Valley or who are looking to relocate.
No FIFO or DIDO applications will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Firefighting and rescue duties and coordination of site emergencies
- Emergency First Aid, fire prevention and other incident response services
- Delivery of and participation in briefings
- Conduct audits of First Aid stations and site vehicles/equipment
- Building of First Aid kits and maintenance of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), gas monitors, emergency equipment, site response vehicles, health centre stock, alcohol and drug testing equipment and helipads
- Conduct Achieve Health Assessments and Alcohol and Drug testing of site employees
- Training and management of the Emergency Response Team (ERT)
- Provision of security services
- Provision of Nationally Accredited Training for clients and/or any subsidiary companies
Qualifications
As a minimum you must currently hold the following Nationally Accredited Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance) - or equivalent
- PUAFIR207 Operate Breathing apparatus open circuit
- PUASAR024 Undertake road crash rescue
- PUASAR025 Undertake confined space rescue
- PUASAR032 Undertake vertical rescue
- Australian Drug and Alcohol testing certificate - or equivalent
- Current MR driver's license
With at least one of the following:
- Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue – or equivalent
- Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations) – or equivalent
It is desired that applicants will also hold the below qualifications but is not essential:
- Certificate II Security Operations (NSW)
- NSW Class 1AC Security Licence
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

This great opportunity is based in the NSW Hunter Valley. The site is located only 1 hour west of Newcastle and 2.5 hours north of the Sydney CBD. The role offers the opportunity to have your family close by and not have to FIFO for DIDO. As this is a residential role, candidates must live within the required distance and travel time frames as required by the client. No FIFO or DIDO applications will be considered.

- Strong IT skills and competence with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exposure to working in the emergency services industry and providing emergency support
- Ability to operate efficiently independently and in a team environment, especially under stressful and time critical situations.
