NSW Government Smart & Skilled Funding

Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW Vocational Education and Training (VET) system. It's helping people in NSW get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers.

Risk Response and Rescue Pty Limited (RTO #90774) is an approved provider under NSW Government Smart & Skilled Funding.

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and provide the opportunity to apply for funding for Nationally Accredited short courses as well as partially subsidised full qualifications.

Smart & Skilled and Skilling for Recovery initiatives focus on training to help people develop the skills they need to obtain employment, undertake entry level qualifications, up-skill in a specific area and/or transition into a new job role.

RR+R are approved to provide the below full qualifications under the NSW Smart & Skilled program in various regions throughout NSW, :

  • HLT21015 Certificate II in Medical Service First Response (transitioning to HLT21020 by Dec 2021)
  • PUA20719 Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations)
  • PUA20619 Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting & Emergency Operations)
  • PUA30619 Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting & Emergency Operations)

Under the Smart and Skilled Skilling for Recovery Funding initiative we can also offer:

  • HLT21015 Certificate II in Medical Service First Response (transitioning to HLT21020 by Dec 2021)
  • PUA20619 Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations)

The Skilling for Recovery initiative supports people who are:

  • Veteran
  • Veteran’s recognised spouse
  • Aged 16 – 24
  • In receipt of a Commonwealth Government welfare benefit (or a dependant of someone who is). The evidence required listed in Appendix 1 of the Smart and Skilled Policy for Skilling for Recovery Initiative.
  • Unemployed and not in receipt of a Commonwealth Government welfare benefit
  • At risk of unemployment (as per details listed below)
  • Employee that has been stood down or an employee who previously would have been on JobKeeper and is at risk of becoming unemployed and requires upskilling or reskilling for a new role and employment elsewhere.
  • Employee starting a job and has been employed in the role for 6 months or less and employed on the condition of receiving training to build capacity and capability for the job role.
  • Existing employee who is low skilled, with or without relevant skills or previous qualification up to Certificate III, that requires training to upskill to secure ongoing employment or future employment.
  • Employee at any organisation in an agreed declining industry who requires upskilling/reskilling for redeployment (to enrol learners under this category, RTOs must gain Departmental approval via their SRM)

In addition to the above qualifications, RR+R are able to apply for individual units of competency on behalf of our clients. Having training partially or fully subsidised by the NSW Government gives our clients the opportunity to reduce their training budgets whilst up-skilling their workforce.
