How to tie a figure of eight - loop knot

Take the rope and fold it in half to create a bight (a bend or loop) in the middle of the rope.

Hold the bight with your preferred hand and use your other hand to make a loop with the working end of the rope (the end furthest from the bight).

Bring the working end of the rope over the top of the bight, and then behind it.

Take the working end of the rope and bring it up through the hole that is created by the bight and the working end.
